両親が忙しく、構ってもらえないがために代わりの大人を探して徘徊する子供を指して使う。

「放置子」はいつのまにか大人の手によって生み出され、愛情を求め、他人の家のドアの前に座り込み、理想の大人を探して徘徊する悲しい存在だと感じる。
